Stocx

We’d like to introduce you to Stocx.

What Timetric does for public data, Stocx does for stocks and shares — it transforms them into something anyone can play with and make sense of, whether they’re a specialist or not. For instance, our friend, Gareth, wanted to construct his own index of American tech stocks — the Gareth Index!

More about this portfolio on Stocx.

And here it is. It takes seconds to create a portfolio from the stocks available (right now, the leading UK and US shares; we’re adding more soon), and you can share those portfolios on Twitter, Facebook, or your blog just as easily. Important data, and great tools, shouldn’t be hard to use. And we’re not done finding statistics, or making ways for you to use them better, yet.

Have a go at Stocx and let us know what you think. We’d love your feedback.

The land speed record

The team behind Thrust SSC, the first supersonic car, are looking to break the 1000-mile-per-hour barrier with Bloodhound.

There have been two especially dramatic periods in land-speed-record history; the inter-war records set by Malcolm Campbell and rivals, which pushed wheel-driven cars as far as the day’s technology would take them, and the jet-age sixties rush brought in by Craig Breedlove and Spirit of America.

Now, with Bloodhound and the North American Eagle both aiming for over 800mph, we could be about to enter a third.
